In addition to complying with the Terms of Service Agreement, TCOYF's Administration expects our members to abide by the following courtesies. Failure to do so will result in action being taken against your member account as described in the Terms of Service Agreement:

Offensive Material

No swearing or vulgarity is permitted in usernames, thread or page titles, or avatars.

Potentially offensive material, including links to such items, should be indicated by a disclaimer in the thread's title.

Sexually explicit nudity is not permitted.

Sensitivity & Courtesy to Others

All pregnancy & birth announcements must be posted in the appropriate Announcements forum.

Consider where your thread might best be placed prior to posting. Duplicate or obviously misplaced threads, especially those which could potentially cause emotional distress for others, will be moved or removed without notice. If you would like your thread moved to another forum, please bring it to our Moderator team's attention using the Report Abuse feature.

Do not create multiple threads to update your status; post updates to the original thread. Alternatively, utilizing our Blog feature is ideal for those who wish to regularly record and/or share personal events with our community.

Messages clearly intended for an individual or small number of members ("shout outs") should be sent privately via our Conversations system.

In keeping with our community's goal of providing a supportive environment for each of our members, please remember that our members bring with them a variety of backgrounds, beliefs and life experiences. When sharing your personal views, please do so in a respectful manner, keeping in mind that your thoughts may be offensive to those who do not share the same beliefs and ideals. Our community is not the appropriate forum for hate speech targeted toward a specific individual or group of individuals, including race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and political views. We reserve the right to reject or edit posts which we feel are not in keeping with our community's goal as stated above.

Be considerate with your signature size. If your signature necessitates scrolling (horizontal or vertical) on standard monitors, it will be disabled.

Dealing With Conflict

If you have a personal issue with another community member, your first step should be to resolve these privately, using our Conversation feature. If this isn't successful, you may use the Report Abuse system. If applicable, please include what you've done to try to resolve your problem with your report. If your issue involves another member's manner of posting (including posting style, frequency and/or location of posts), you may bring it to our attention using the Report Abuse system as necessary. Attempts to publicly moderate or otherwise air grievances toward another member, Moderator, Administrator or group within our community detract from the supportive environment of our community and as such are unacceptable.

Because it is impossible for our Administrator/Moderator team to review every post, we encourage our members to utilize the Report Abuse system to bring questionable posts to our attention. Questionable posts include those which you feel may violate the Terms of Service Agreement or Forum Courtesies, or are otherwise out of keeping with the intent of our community. Any additional comments within Reports of Abuse should be respectful in nature. All abuse reports and resulting Moderator decisions are confidential and are not discussed outside of the Administrator/Moderator team.

Solicitation, Personal Gain, and Exchange of Goods (these rules do not apply to the Marketplace Forums)

No solicitation in posts. Information that could potentially result in financial gain by you or someone you know should be limited to your signature. This includes but is not limited to questions or information regarding items for sale or trade, commercial or home businesses, requests for votes, photo contests, surveys, referrals, petitions, home parties, donation requests, and your or others’ limited-access blogs, online communities or other websites.

Any type of solicitation should be limited to a one-line URL in your signature. Alternatively, a graphic which does not exceed 100 pixels tall x 250 pixels wide may be used in your signature for purposes of self-promotion.

To protect the well-being of our members, exchange of consumable items, including supplements, medications, formula or personal care items, is not permitted.

In closing, no guideline can substitute for common sense and courtesy. If in doubt whether you should post a particular item, please feel free to contact our Administrator/Moderator team regarding the suitability of that particular subject.

In addition to complying with the Terms of Service Agreement, TCOYF's Administration expects our members to abide by the following courtesies. Failure to do so will result in action being taken against your member account as described in the Terms of Service Agreement:

No swearing or vulgarity is permitted in usernames, thread or page titles, or avatars.

Potentially offensive material, including links to such items, should be indicated by a disclaimer in the thread's title.

All pregnancy & birth announcements must be posted in the appropriate Announcements forum.

Consider where your thread might best be placed prior to posting. Duplicate or obviously misplaced threads, especially those which could potentially cause emotional distress for others, will be moved or removed without notice. If you would like your thread moved to another forum, please bring it to our Moderator team's attention using the Report Abuse feature.

Do not create multiple threads to update your status; post updates to the original thread. Alternatively, utilizing our Blog feature is ideal for those who wish to regularly record and/or share personal events with our community.

Attempts to publicly moderate or otherwise air grievances toward another member, Moderator, Administrator or group within our community detract from the supportive environment of our community and as such are unacceptable.

Because it is impossible for our Administrator/Moderator team to review every post, we encourage our members to utilize the Report Abuse system to bring questionable posts to our attention. Questionable posts include those which you feel may violate the Terms of Service Agreement or Forum Courtesies, or are otherwise out of keeping with the intent of our community. Any additional comments within Reports of Abuse should be respectful in nature. All abuse reports and resulting Moderator decisions are confidential and are not discussed outside of the Administrator/Moderator team.

Solicitation, Personal Gain, and Exchange of Goods (these rules do not apply to the Marketplace Forums)

No solicitation in posts. Information that could potentially result in financial gain by you or someone you know should be limited to your signature. This includes but is not limited to questions or information regarding items for sale or trade, commercial or home businesses, requests for votes, photo contests, surveys, referrals, petitions, home parties, donation requests, and your or others’ limited-access blogs, online communities or other websites.

Any type of solicitation should be limited to a one-line URL in your signature. Alternatively, a graphic which does not exceed 100 pixels tall x 250 pixels wide may be used in your signature for purposes of self-promotion.

Changing Your Username

Username changes are not typically permitted but will be considered in cases of privacy concerns. If you feel that you need to change your username to protect your privacy you must submit your request via Conversation to Forum Administration. Be sure to include your current username, reasoning for the requested changed, and preferred new username. Requests will be considered on a case by case basis.

Your email of record is the email address you used when creating your account. Please be sure that this is an active account that you have access to on an on-going basis. If you ever forget your password or need to be contacted by Administration for any reason, this is the email that will be used. If you need to change your email of record, you can do so by going to Edit, then the Site Options tab. Be sure to save your changes.

Please note that you must reactivate your account once the email of record is changed. Check and double check the email address before submitting your request.

Deleting Your Account

Please consider all of your options before deciding to delete your account. Once an account is deleted, it cannot be reinstated. Should you choose to rejoin the TCOYF Message Boards, you will start again as a newbie and need to rebuild your Friends list, rejoin groups, and re-establish activity to gain access to our Private Forums.

If after careful consideration you decide to request deletion, initiate a Conversation with Forum Administration (using the "Start Conversation" link on the Forum Adminstrator Profile). Please note that deleting an account ONLY deletes the account - if you need to stop recurring billing please email us - support@tcoyf.com.

Deleting Your Account

Please consider all of your options before deciding to delete your account. Once an account is deleted, it cannot be reinstated. Changing Your Username

Username changes are not typically permitted but will be considered in cases of privacy concerns. If you feel that you need to change your username to protect your privacy you must send an email to support@ovusoft.com from your email address of record (the one you used when registering). Be sure to include your current username, reasoning for the requested changed, and preferred new username. Requests will be considered on a case by case basis and decisions made by the Administrator team are final.

Members who have had repeated rejected posts or other violations of our Terms of Service Agreement and Forum Courtesies may be placed on Moderated Status.

A member on moderated status is able to continue to post within our community; however, her posts will not display to the general membership until they have been approved by a member of our Moderator/Administrator team. A moderated member's signature and avatar will also be prevented from displaying during the moderated status. Additionally, moderated Moderated members do not have access to private forums.

Member moderation is handled on a case-by-case basis; if a member demonstrates a genuine desire to actively contribute to our community in a positive manner, she can submit a request to Forum Administration and the Administrator team will consider her request to remove the moderated status. You can initiate such a Conversation by selecting the "Start Conversation" link on the Forum Administrator Profile. Members who have had repeated rejected posts or other violations of our Terms of Service Agreement and Forum Courtesies may be placed on Moderated Status.

A member on moderated status is able to continue to post within our community; however, her posts will not display to the general membership until they have been approved by a member of our Moderator/Administrator team. A moderated member's signature and avatar will also be prevented from displaying during the moderated status. Additionally, moderated members do not have access to private forums.

Member moderation is handled on a case-by-case basis; if a member demonstrates a genuine desire to actively contribute to our community in a positive manner, she can submit a request via PM to Forum Administration and the Administrator team will consider her request to remove the moderated status. During our review, we’ll consider the member’s history and the circumstances which led up to her moderation, as well as subsequent posts. After such time as the moderation status is removed, a member’s signature and avatar will again display. You may also request that your private forum privileges be restored at that time.

How do I add a signature?

When you're logged in to the forum, on the top right you will see a link 'Edit'. Click on it to access your profile.

Your profile has 3 tabs - select the Site Options (center) tag.

You can type the signature in plain text OR click on the HTML link and type HTML code.

You can make use of the filmstrip icon (Insert Media) to add images.

To add links, first type the text you want to display, then highlight it and click the link icon (chain) to add links to your chart or blog, etc.

Quick HTML for getting signature is below:

Highlight the text

Click the link icon

If you are having problems uploading:

1. Be sure that your password to http://tcoyf.com contains no capital letters. Lowercase letters, numbers and special characters are all fine. If your password contains uppercase letters, please go to the "Edit" tab (next to your name at top of page), then the "Sign In Information" tab to change your password.

2. Next, open your software. From the chart view, click "Upload". On the second screen of the popup, make sure your sign in information exactly matches your account information for http://tcoyf.com account

3. Finish the upload process; once you've uploaded your charts should appear here:

To initiate a new conversation, click on a member's name to go to their profile page. Then click the "Start a Conversation" button under the member's avatar.

You can view your conversations in the top panel of your homepage, or by clicking the link at the top right of your screen. You can control who can send you a conversation by Editing your profile, then selecting the Site Options tab. Scroll down to the Conversation Configuration section to make changes, then click Save.

Fixing Jumbled Imported Journals

This is a fix for journals - it's multi-step, but if you'll go through it, it will work.that were imported from the old Ovusoft.com to your personal group at TCOYF.com

Because the journals are SO huge, there was no way to import them each as one thread. Instead we made one thread per month. We imported everything around Halloween, then on 11/6 we imported from 11/1-11/6. The imports yesterday on 11/6/09 attached to an old thread,which thread, which is now the top thread. So, the top thread you see *is* jumbled, but all of the other threads should be in chronological order.

To fix it:

From the newest thread we created, copy all of the posts from November into a NEW thread (it should only be 5-6 days worth of posts)

After those posts are copied to a new thread, use your moderator tools at the bottom right to DELETE those posts from the jumbled thread. (You all have moderator tools in the groups you own)

Because the threads are sorted by newest post date, once that jumbled thread has the NEW posts deleted, it will pop back into where it should be chronologically

Lastly, because you OWN your group, you're the moderator. You can edit ANY post, not just your own. So you can go back and edit each thread to give it a new title (such as "October 2009" or "Journal Part 1" or whatever else you want), even if the first post wasn't yours. You will need to add edit/delete notes when you take moderator action - putting "journal" in the box is fine.

Policy Regarding Political Posts

The original intent of the Ovusoft TCOYF community was to provide a free exchange of ideas in a comfortable environment. As our community has grown far beyond its original two forums, that goal remains unchanged. Because political subjects have historically become emotionally charged and caused heated debates within our community, Ovusoft TCOYF administration has determined that such discussions should take place only within the Debates and Hot Topics forum, Online Journals forum, blogs, and/or groups (as determined by those groups' owners).

Adding members to your Friends list allows you to see their activities in your Activity Feed and more easily keep in touch with them. As with other online communities (and much like real life), friendship is a two-way-street. You can invite any member to be your friend, but they will not appear in your Friend list or on your Home Page Activity Feed unless they accept your request.

Adding Friends

You can add friends from within a thread (by clicking on a user's name to reach their profile) or by searching for a member in the User Directory. You can find the Directory by clicking into the Forums and then selecting "View All Users" from the shortcut menu in the right column. The User Directory can be searched or browsed to find the member(s) who you would like to add as a Friend.

From the member's profile, select the "Add to Friends" option below their avatar. This will open a request window where you can add a note to accompany your Friend Request. Your friends' names and avatars will appear in your Friend list on your Homepage.

Removing Friends

If you decide that you'd no longer like to be Friends with someone you can easily remove them. Click on their name in your friends list (or in any of their posts) to reach their profile. Under their avatar, select the "Remove as a Friend" link.

Once you remove someone from your Friends list, your information will no longer appear in their Activity Feed and their activity will no longer appear in yours. No notifications are sent when a Friend is removed, but you will disappear from their Friend list.

To designate a thread as a Favorite, click the "More" button in the top right corner of the first post. Select "Add this post as a favorite". You can also designate an entire Forum as a favorite using the same menu.

You can see all of your Favorites by visiting your Home Page. Your favorites will be listed in the bottom of the left column under your avatar.

Only 3 three favorites will be displayed at a time, if more than three threads are designated they will be shown on a rotating basis.

Members do not have the ability to delete a threadforum threads.

You can, however, submit a thread removal request to the Moderator team. To do this, click the "More" button in the top right corner of the thread and then select "Report Abuse". Use the form to submit a request for thread removal. You may only request the removal of your own threads.

Next:

Click the Poll tab, then check "Include a Poll in This Post".

Fill in the Question field, as well as any necessary description.

Policy Regarding Child Abuse
The Administrators/Moderators do NOT condone child abuse. Those posts containing descriptions of child abuse will be taken very seriously. "Child abuse" can be defined as causing or permitting any harmful or offensive contact on a child's body; and, any communication or transaction of any kind which humiliates, shames, or frightens the child. Some child development experts go a bit further, and define child abuse as any act or omission, which fails to nurture or in the upbringing of the children.

The Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act defines child abuse and neglect as: "at a minimum, any recent act or failure to act on the part of a parent or caretaker, which results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse or exploitation, or an act or failure to act which presents an imminent risk of serious harm."

Policy Regarding Sucidal Posts and Threats of Any Kind
Suicidal posts, and those posts glorifying suicide and/or self-harm and/or threatening violence of any kind, will be taken very seriously. Self-harm may be defined as including intentionally scratching, hitting, cutting, pinching or otherwise inflicting physical harm on oneself. Threats of violence may be defined as any statement specifically threatening or wishing physical harm on any person – within this community or outside it.

Members receiving a Conversation of a threatening nature from another member should forward the communication to the Administration Team immediately. If you receive a message threatening a child or self-harm, please either contact the Administration Team or pass along the resources found within this article.

Reporting Posts
Administrators/Moderators cannot review every post made within the forums. Members who read a post containing descriptions of child abuse or any type of threatened or actual violence against self or others should utilize the Report Abuse feature (found under the "More" button in the upper right of each post) to bring the situation to the attention of the Adminstrators/Moderators immediately.

The Administrators/Moderators do NOT condone child abuse. Those posts containing descriptions of child abuse will be taken very seriously. "Child abuse" can be defined as causing or permitting any harmful or offensive contact on a child's body; and, any communication or transaction of any kind which humiliates, shames, or frightens the child. Some child development experts go a bit further, and define child abuse as any act or omission, which fails to nurture or in the upbringing of the children.

The Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act defines child abuse and neglect as: "at a minimum, any recent act or failure to act on the part of a parent or caretaker, which results in death, serious physical or emotional harm, sexual abuse or exploitation, or an act or failure to act which presents an imminent risk of serious harm."

Policy Regarding Sucidal Posts and Threats of Any Kind

Suicidal posts, and those posts glorifying suicide and/or self-harm and/or threatening violence of any kind, will be taken very seriously. Self-harm may be defined as including intentionally scratching, hitting, cutting, pinching or otherwise inflicting physical harm on oneself. Threats of violence may be defined as any statement specifically threatening or wishing physical harm on any person – within this community or outside it.

Members receiving a Conversation of a threatening nature from another member should forward the communication to the Administration Team immediately. If you receive a message threatening a child or self-harm, please either contact the Administration Team or pass along the resources found within this article.

Reporting Posts

Administrators/Moderators cannot review every post made within the forums. Members who read a post containing descriptions of child abuse or any type of threatened or actual violence against self or others should utilize the Report Abuse feature (found under the "More" button in the upper right of each post) to bring the situation to the attention of the Adminstrators/Moderators immediately.

The Administrators/Moderators will remove posts containing descriptions of child abuse or any type of threatened or actual violence against self or others. This includes creative or artistic posts pertaining to these subjects.

Editing Your Profile

To edit your profile, first click "Edit" at the top right of any page - it's located next to your username. Once you get to the Editing Your Profile Section, you will see three tabs - Profile Options, Site Options and Sign-In Information.

Profile Options

Uploading / Changing Your Avatar

Avatars can be up to 80x80 pixels. You can upload your own or choose from the limited TCOYF database. Click the "Change Avatar" link within the "Profile Options" Tab. Follow upload directions. Please do not use an image that use vulgarities or sexual nudity.

Adding a Bio (Biography)

Adding a Bio can let other members of the community know a bit more about you, your TTC history, and personal story. Please remember that your Bio is available for all members to read. Basic HTML functions can be used to enhance your Bio.

Adding / Editing Common Profile Options

These entries are also available for public viewing, and it's entirely up to you how much or how little you choose to add.

Your Gallery is a collection of all images that you've uploaded into any thread on the TCOYF Message Boards. You can choose to remove this link if you do not want it publicly available for viewing.

The Public Email address you display on your profile is not your TCOYF email of record. Should we ever need to contact you (for a password reset or any other reason), we will use your Private Email adress (which can be changed on the Site Options page.)

You have the option to "Share Favorites" if you'd like other members to be able to see what threads you've selected as your personal favorites. You may select as many threads as you like, but your profile will only display three at a time on a rotating basis. This is a good place to link to your Journal (only members with Journal access will be able to see your Journal).

Shared Feeds

You can share favorite RSS / Newsfeeds that you follow on a regular basis with other members of the community by adding them in this text box. Add just one link / URL per line.

You have the opportunity to toggle many Site Options on and off to customize your user experience. Experiment and decide what works best for you.

As a courtesy to others and in an effort to maximize forum performance, we require that members limit their signature size to no larger than one page on the average member’s computer monitor. Oversized signatures should be brought to the attention of the Administration team utilizing the "Report Abuse" funtion in a thread; this benefits the entire community, including you, by improving overall performance. In accordance with our Forum Courtesies, we will disable oversized signatures.

Please remember:

Your entire signature should be visible without requiring any horizontal or vertical scrolling.

Not all of our members use widescreen monitors; therefore, total signature width should not exceed 700 pixels.

Because not all browsers wrap, include line breaks in your code.

The above are the absolute maximums; an excellent guideline would be that your signature should not exceed the length of an average post.

If another member's signature is causing issues for you, you may alert the Admin team directly by using the Report Abuse feature. Please uncheck the box marked “Report to Forum Moderators”, as reports should go directly to the Admin team.

Remember that we're making decisions based on the average user; members with lower resolutions or multiple toolbars may still experience a small amount of scrolling.

Email Configuration

Email settings help you control the email address TCOYF will use to send you your requested notifications. This is a private email setting and the email address you use here will not be made public (unless, of course, it matches the Public Email you set under "Profile Options"). This email is your official email of record for password resets, etc.

Conversations Configuration

Conversations are similar to the "Private Messages" available in the former Ovusoft Community. You can use these settings to determine who can contact you for a private conversation and who cannot.

Sign-In Information

This tab will show your last log-in date and allow you to change your password.

Changing Your Password

Select the "Change Password" link and enter your current password along with your new password (you'll have to enter it twice). Once changed, your new password will be in effect next time you login.

To turn off your signature for a specific post, check the "<label for="ctl00_ctl00_bcr_bcr_PostForm_ctl05_HideSignature">Do "Do not include my signature in this post</label>" " box at the bottom of the posting page/window.

If you would like to turn off your signature for a specific forum, click the "by default turn OFF my signature in this forum -- it is currently ON" link at the bottom of the posting page/window. You will still be able to override an individual post's settings - this simply changes your default setting.

Turning off display of signatures in a forum

To turn off the display off all signatures in a forum, click on open any postthread in the forum, then click the "turn signatures off in this forum" link , located at the top right of the forum display page.

This will prevent the display of all signatures in the current thread AND in all threads you view from that point on for that particular forum. If you want to turn them back on, simply click the "turn signatures on in this forum" link at the top right.

To turn off the display off all signatures in a forum, click on any post, then click the "turn signatures off in this forum" link, located at the top right of the forum display page. This will prevent the display of all signatures in the forum.
