From this tab you can edit overall calculation preferences that impact all fertility calculations and determination of your estimated date of ovulation. Again, these preferences are cycle-specific so please select the appropriate cycle before making changes.
Fertility Awareness Method Options
* Temperatures and cervical fluid - Requires that temperature and cervical fluid observations corroborate each other to calculate for ovulation and post-ovulation infertility.
* Temperature only - Use this setting if you prefer not to observe cervical fluid and/or vaginal sensation and prefer to use your basal body temperature as your primary fertility sign.
* Cervical fluid only - Use this setting if you prefer not to observe your basal body temperature and wish to use cervical fluid and/or vaginal sensation as your primary fertility sign.
* None (not using FAM) - Use this setting if you are only using non-FAM methods.
Ovulation Identification Methods
This option determines which method TCOYF will use in calculating your estimated ovulation date and the length of your luteal phase when the results from your fertility signs differ from those of an ovulation predictor kit (OPK), electronic fertility monitor, or saliva ferning tester. Use the up/down arrows to adjust priorities; use the right arrow to move items to the Do Not Use list.
The item at the top of the list will be used as the "definitive" estimate when there is a discrepancy between it and either of the other two ovulation identification methods. For example, suppose an analysis of your fertility signs suggests that December 4th is your ovulation date, yet your fertility monitor suggests December 3rd instead. If your preference is set such that the "Fertility signs" options is ahead of "Electronic fertility monitor results" in the sequence, TCOYF will use December 4th as the definitive estimate for ovulation. If the "Electronic fertility monitor results" option is ahead of "Fertility signs," then TCOYF will use December 3rd as the definitive estimate.
Regardless of the sequence, if an analysis made by a method that is higher in the sequence doesn't determine ovulation at all, and a method lower in the sequence does indicate it, then TCOYF will use the lower method to estimate ovulation. For example, assume that you have a cycle in which you are unable to take your temperature with any regularity and as a result, TCOYF cannot identify ovulation using your fertility signs. In this same cycle, however, you do have a positive ovulation predictor kit result that does estimate ovulation. Even if "Fertility signs" is ahead of "Ovulation predictor kit results" in the sequence, TCOYF will use the ovulation date as estimated by the ovulation predictor kit since an analysis of your fertility signs doesn't indicate ovulation at all.
