Sorry for the late response I didn't see your comment on my page until recently. A progesterone test is something that has to be done by your doctor unfortuntely but it can confirm O if done about 7 dyas after you think you O'd. It is very important that if you do the test after you are sure you have O'd. For example, most doctors think all women O on CD14. Lets say you o'd on CD23. Most doctors based on a CD14 O will test a progesterone on CD21. However if you didn't O until CD23 then the test was showed you hadn't O'd and may lead your doctor to tell you that this was anovulatory cycle which is not true-you just hadn't O'd yet. I hope this makes sense. 38 is not too old but but it may take you longer to get pregnant than if you were in your 20's. I am 31 and we have been trying for 13 months. It just depends on your own individual fertility. Charting your cycles and doing TCOYF is the best thing you can do. If you are TTC for 6 months, always timing intercourse correctly, the charting shows you are O'ing, then I would go see a RE (reproductive endocrinologist) no later than 6 months from now. Do not wait a year. Good luck and email any time you have questions. I have been doing this for a long time and am under the care of an RE so I will help you out wherever I can.

Take care,
