You're very welcome for the comments. I just get so tired of the same old people being bullies, just for the sake of meanness. The funny thing is, when a dissenting reply is stated kindly, and without the childish antics of the few well-known posters who are notorious for this, I am very likely to rethink my position on any number of controversial topics. I've followed links against CIO, against spanking, against timeouts. The ones who can't control their ugliness just make me totally discount their opinions. It's just tiresome, and I suspect there are quite a few women reading the threads who feel the same way.

I have the same problem as you do with the "studies" on spanking. I also fall into the opposite categories from the ones I "should" fall into, according to the studies, as do the majority of my friends. I'm long-time married, well-educated, test well, and I was spanked as a child. I don't even know anyone personally who was spanked correctly, by well-meaning parents, who resents the parents in any way for it.

I also think the CIO studies are a true bunch of manure. The majority of the studies were done on children in orphanages, with a long history of sustained crying, with unresponsive caregivers, both day and night. Because of course, if CIO is done successfully, and it works, as it does for a good percentage of those who try it, where would they find a large enough groups of subjects to study for the effects of long-term CIO? Those kids would all be sleeping peacefully in their beds, not crying!

You do a good job of standing up for yourself. As I've stated before, I may not agree with everything you say and do, but if I disagree, you'd better believe I'll have enough class to do it without being a jerk!

PPH and Anemia

Being told you cannot safely homebirth if you are anemic is completely different from saying being anemic increases your chances for PPH.

There is nothing about low H&H that will reduce your clotting factors. Platelets, thrombin, and other factors are responsible for clotting and stopping bleeding, not red blood cells.

This is why being anemic does not increase your chances of PPH. There are no studies or links because it doesn't exist. You can do a Google for yourself, and if you find something that says "anemia increases PPH", I'll eat my hat.

That's what we are currently going through right now and I have been literally making myself sick with worry. Funny how Glenn Beck is classified as "trash" and a "horrid person", but if someone accused Obama of the same type of thing, they'd be clamoring for actual proof. Geeze, I don't get to watch Beck very often and don't own any of his books, but I really love him. I think he's perfectly appropriate for kids too btw. [shr]

Also I do not do attachment parenting-I just dont believe in CIO or spanking-those are also OP whom some of their opinions I value very much. My DS was bottle-fed, slept in his crib from day one and I did not "wear" him. I like some of the members who are attachment parents very much and have learned alot by them and consider a couple of them my friends but I dont think its appropriate for you to specifically come on my wall and write mean things to me when most of what you are attacking me about came from other members. I NEVER called you a child abuser so please do not say that I did-I just disagree passionately about spanking children as I had very bad experiences with them as a child myself. I am a christian and I also do not like the bible being used as justifcation for things I feel are wrong. I have no doubt you love your kids but I disagree completely with the way you discipline.
