Once fertility does return, breastfeeding may have an impact on hormone levels, and thus, may cause some irregularity in the menstrual cycle. For women who have not had a menstrual period after childbirth and who are breastfeeding, determining the return of fertility in advance can be difficult. The best advice is to consider any day with cervical mucus potentially fertile, and to begin charting temperatures when mucus appears.

The charts in this gallery are those of women who are currently breastfeeding. This section is for completed charts and not intended for questions. If you have questions concerning an incomplete chart feel free to share your chart in the Chart Question Gallery. The longest LP I've had was 8 days, but that was with several days of spotting beforehand. This cycle I also had lots of spotting, and nothing to indicate that it was different than my previous cycles. This cycle we cut back on DS's nursing. We now nurse only at naptime, bedtime, a couple times during the night, and in the morning before getting out of bed. So, it just goes to show it's how much you cut back in a 24-hour period. You don't have to just night-wean. My boy is 17 months old now. I ovulated a week later than I've been used to and my luteal phase was extremely short. I used natural progesterone cream, but I don't know that it really helped me at all. I think it's probably because DS (15 months) still nurses quite a lot. We did TTC this cycle, but I think that was a bit pointless. I even menstruated earlier than normal (my cycle is usually 40 days or so). Anyone this this has to do with breastfeeding my 22 month old still? I am not inclined to wean him as of yet (my goal is at least until his is 24 months old), but it does make me wonder if my hormones are still kinda crazy because of it.
Oh well, maybe next time we will be successful.

My temp was high this morning, 97.7 but I had been up about 1.5 hours before to nurse. After I took it, I went back to sleep and took it again about an hour later, temping at 97.5. So I know it is high and it wasn't a fluke temp. My question is why would it say that I O'd on November 1st, that seems like quite a big lag time before my temp rose. And we are TTA right now.

BFP 13 DPO, O CD 28

Still nursing my 26 month old, twice during the day, and once or twice at night.
