Pre-2000 NVIDIA Drivers and TCOYF

NVIDIA Corporation makes video cards and drivers for many PC manufacturers, including some of the biggest PC companies in the world: Gateway, Dell, HP, and Compaq, to name just a few.  "Drivers" are pieces of software used by the Windows operating system to do various things with your PC's hardware -- Windows "talks" to the driver, and the driver then tells the hardware what do do.  In the case of a video display, the driver tells the video card and the monitor how to "paint" the various elements on the screen.

NVIDIA drivers from 1999 and earlier have a known bug which causes them to inaccurately display the various graphic elements in TCOYF and to causes system freezes, as well.  You can fix the problem by upgrading to the latest NVIDIA driver release.

This page explains how to determine if you have an pre-2000 NVIDIA driver and where you can find an update to the latest version.

Determining if You Have an NVIDIA Driver

Close all programs on your computer and right-click the My Computer icon on your desktop.  This will bring up a pop-up menu that looks like this:

Select Properties from the list of options, this will bring up the System Properties window, select the Device Manager tab, which will look something like this:

Click the "+" sign next to Display Adapters (sometimes it's simply labeled Display) to bring up a list of adapters on your system.  Generally there is just one listed, double-click it to bring up the Properties window for the display adapter, then select the Driver tab.  You will see something like this (although yours will probably differ, somewhat):

If your Provider is listed as NVIDIA as the one above, check the Date to make sure it is not from 1999 or earlier.  If it is from 1999 or earlier, you should update your driver to the latest release, which is available from the NVIDIA website at http://www.nvidia.com.

If your Provider is not listed as NVIDIA and you still have graphics problems (such as missing buttons or other graphic elements, system freezes, etc.) then please send an e-mail to support@tcoyf.com and include your video driver provider, date, operating system (Win 95/98/ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000) and your PC name and model number.

If you need additional assistance with graphics or video issues, please send an e-mail to support@tcoyf.com and we will respond within 24 hours.  If you do not receive a response within that time, please try sending again, as your mail may have been lost in transit.  form.
