Last page of the August thread.
Hey Holly! Where are you in your cycle, sweetie?
Welcome, Sarah and Julia! I'm sorry for the circumstances that brought you here, but I'm so glad you're here! As you can see, The Triple Threats are very, very good luck for each other!!
Am I reading what I think I'm reading??? I almost don't want to go back and read the August thread, just in case I misinterpreted the comments on the last page!! My every single digit is crossed for you!!
AFM: I do apologize for my absence. I deal with bipolar depression a lot and it struck pretty viciously this summer. Then my new job started last Saturday. I'm a student leader at my university. This is so not a good job for someone like me! I'm an introvert - I care deeply about people, but groups and crowds overwhelm me and frankly, I wish there was some way for me to get out of it!!!! I accepted the job offer in the spring of this year, when I was thinking I would be more "up" by the fall. Hah. Never making that mistake again!
The biggest part of the job starts tomorrow, Orientation Day, when all the first-years and their parents descend on the university in a flurry of moving in, getting settled, figuring out the campus, and all that orientating stuff. I have mature students, but I'm still incredibly nervous about meeting them and how the day is going to go. I still have a ton of planning for the rest of the week (O-Day only kicks off O-WEEK), and then I settle into the second part of the job, which is teaching a mandatory study-skills course to the same group we have for O-Week.
Did I mention I'm still not done all my planning? STRESS. So I am sorry about my lack of participation lately, but that's why. My own classes start on Thursday, the day O-Week finally ends, and I'm teaching my first class that day too! I just feel so overwhelmed. Hugs to everyone and if you pray, boy, would I appreciate some prayer tonight and tomorrow!!
1. How are some of you managing to turn off your signatures when you post here? I would love to turn off my siggie when I'm doing these multiple posts, but I don't see an option anywhere!
2. DPOLand: I would like to know what you ladies would prefer... this is "our" group, so I want to do things the way the majority of us would like them done. Personally, DPOLand is one of my favourite parts of this forum! However, since so many of our awesome Threats are graduating and our post count is down a little bit, I find myself wondering how often I should post DPOLand. The way we used to post it was every week (I think). Since we have fewer posts these days, that might result in multiple DPOLand posts on one page. The other option is to post once a page. That might result in a reduced usefulness to DPOLand. So, each one has its pros and cons. I just want to take an informal poll and ask you all (including those grads who pop in to cheer us on!) which one you think we should do?
- DPOLand once a week, or
- DPOLand once per page of thread
Hi everyone. Haven't been here in a while. sorry about that. not sure if my info is still on header or not.
I can put your info back in DPOLand now and will keep doing so as long as you check back once every couple of weeks or so!!
Gotta run... O-DAY!!!! (Job, not ovulation, sadly... LOL)
Sharbear~ Thanks. Hadn't been here since the miscarriage much cause i had been depressed lately and then couldn't get on past few days with internet explorer for some reason. I am on CD6 today.
Shar--thank you for the lovely header! I'm sorry that you've had a rough summer. How was O-Day? I know you already know this but it's very normal to feel overwhelmed with a new job. I'm also an introvert and totally relate to being overwhelmed by groups of people, and I hope it starts feeling more comfortable for you soon.
I'm not sure how I feel about DPOland--maybe once per thread? I'm CD14, waiting to O.
KyAngel--I'm sorry you've been depressed. Have you talked to a professional about how you're doing? I'm a strong believer in talking to therapists. Sending tons of healing vibes your way.
Ramona--hope you're still having fun in FL!
Julia--did you O yet?
AFM--So this no wheat, dairy, or sugar diet really blows. I knew my peppiness about how easy it was wouldn't last. I haven't been super strict about it--still eating a little bit of wheat and other gluten--but I'm already burned out and grumpy and hungry. On one hand it's nice to obsess about something other than babies, but since it's a means to an end to get babies, it's all tied in together in a growing feeling of resentment.
Glad I avoided an early O because I need to fall on a weekday so that my 7dpo test falls on a weekday. CD14 and today's an off day in our every-other-day schedule.
Hope you're all having good weekends!

If you're 30+, TTC#1 after loss(es), come drop by the Triple Threats for some tea & sympathy (over here...)
Hi Janetta! I'm sorry you are dealing with depression right now, when I think back to how awful I felt after my losses (And I'm not normally a depressed kind of person) it's very dark . Do you have another plan or are you going to have another IUI soon? Have you had repeat pregnancy loss testing done at all? I really am sorry for your loss .
Shar - on the siggies, I don't think we can turn off signatures in groups, only in the forums. Back in the days when I still tried to give constructive input I asked Melissa about it and she said the software structures of the groups and forums are very different and they actually can't let us tunr of siggies in groups as easily . Probably doesn't help but that's my 2c worth. And some advice my aunt gave to me a while ago? You fake it until you make it! Nobody's going to know the difference anyway! Good luck with O-day, hope it all goes swimmingly. And you know what? Most of those first years are waaaaaay more scared than you!
I just wanted to drop by and say hello to the TTC warrior chicks . I hope Sammy started the next wave of clearing out this place!

Shar- thanks for the 1. great new header 2. kind words 3. always awesome icons! Sounds like you have a lot of stress right now. I am hoping this is an opportunity to push out of your comfort zone in a good way. I'm sure you'll do a great job. I will be sending lots of prayers your way. P.S. I suggest making it easy on yourself and doing DPO land less often. Since there aren't as many of us, it's easier to keep track of what's happening anyways.
Holly- Wow! You don't mess around. Doing all that on the diet at once is rough. You have my sympathies. I had a hard time when I did both dairy and gluten for 3 weeks last year. One thing that helped me was to eat a lot of fat- I realized that part of the reason I always felt hungry not eating dairy was that that was one of my main sources of fat. Once I added some avocados and nuts and a little coconut oil to my smoothies I felt much better. Hang in there! Hope that comes at just the right time!
Hi Janetta! Welcome, or rather, welcome back. Sorry about the depression. I think many of us have been there. I started seeing a great therapist who specializes in infertility/pregnancy issues after my last m/c and with just a few sessions she REALLY helped me. I'm sure I'd have been depressed all summer without her help. Have you thought about getting some support? (Sorry I don't know your whole history)
Sandra- GREAT advice you gave Shar. Yeah, what she said!
AFM: Trying to remain calm, happy and hopeful until my ultrasound on 9/20. Sometimes that's easier than others. I'd like to hang out here until then. I'll try not to baby talk too much.
to all this month!
TTC while breastfeeding
DPOLand Poll: I'm fine with either option, but thinking that maybe once a week would be less of a headache to update?
I'm sorry to hear that many of us deal/have dealt with depression and bipolar depression here. I too have a history of major depression and have to always be on guard for the signs that another episode could be rearing it's ugly head. Talking is always surprisingly helpful so like everyone else I suggest doing some talk therapy to work through things.
AFM: I did ovulate early as I had a hunch I might- CD 16. Not sure why, maybe the B6 supplment or more exercise or just a fluke. I'm kinda confused though because the last two cycles I had a positive OPK on my Peak Day and my temp didn't rise until three days later rather than two as I thought was normal. I've gone with the software and chosen the first day after OPK/Peak Day as my Oday, but is that what you would do? So currently I'm 2dpo. I didn't get in enough BDing in the window (i'm so not a fan of that term, but everyone knows what it means!) because of the early O, out of town guest staying over, and coming down with a cold. Did get one Best day in though so I still have a bit of hope. Plus there was no fatigue on DH's end so the not telling him when the window was worked out well.

Sammy Great on the beta, and sending 's for next U/S
Shar, great job on the header, and I agree on dpo land make it easy on yourself, I use to put them on once a page, but there isn't as many people here anymore so what ever is easy

Sammy - thanks for answering my questions. I had no idea a high beta could be a bad thing. Glad to hear your second beta was good and normal! No problems with you sticking around until you feel comfortable moving on to grads!
Julia - I don't know a lot about morphology and SA. I looked it up, the Mayo clinic site says that it can increase the time it takes to get pg, but won't cause birth defects if pregnancy does occur. I have heard good things about changing diet/lifestyle and improving SA results, so maybe give that a try and retest if you are told you need to go down the IUI route, especially if DH has reservations. Glad to hear that not telling DH when your best days are helped things! It only takes once, so don't count yourself out just yet for this cycle.
Holly - I am a manager at a utility company, so when there is a big storm, everyone has to work if they are asked/told. Luckily the hurricane didn't do any damage and they didn't ask me to cancel my vacation plans. I would be very upset if I had cancelled my trip and then nothing happened. Yikes on the new diet! I commend you for sticking to a new plan so well! I have tried a gluten/dairy free diet, but only for 5 days at a time for detox purposes, not for a lifestyle! That would be so tough for me. I have done the South Beach diet a few times, the first 3-5 days are the worst as far as feeling sluggish and craving sugar. Once I get over the hump, its easier. I second the suggestion to make sure you have enough fats, and proteins too. Those can help you feel full and stay full longer. And you need to make sure you are replacing all the gluten/dairy calories you have cut out as well. May be helpful to do a calorie log for a bit until you get comfortable with what you are eating, if you aren't already.
Shar - great job on the Sept header! I think once a week or once a month is fine for DPO land. I think once a page would get difficult to keep track of. Hopefully your new job and O week are going better than you thought! I am also not comfortable in new situations and around large groups of people. It takes me a while to 'settle in' once I'm in a new environment. I'm sure you'll be great!
KyAngel - don't think we've 'met'. I've been posting here since late June I think. Sorry about your loss. I think talking to a professional is a great idea if you are open to that.
AFM - Back from Florida today! Great vacation with my sister and BIL. We went to the beach a couple of times, did a everglades airboat ride, went to the Naples zoo, among other things. The beaches down there are beautiful. My sister did ask me if we were planning to have kids, and I told her 'Someday'. She said to me, "Well, you're 32, you know you can't wait forever." And I laughed it off. That was the extent of my TTC conversations with her. She just turned 31, so not much younger than me any way. I am currently on CD 13 waiting to O, but still TTA. 2 more weeks until my results appt with the RE! And 1 week until my appt with the new Acu. This cycle has been difficult to TTA. Being on vacation right before O and feeling positive. This is my 4th cycle of TTA since the second m/c and I just feel ready to try again, but too scared to try before we know if something is wrong. On a positive note, my chart this month is actually looking pretty good for the follicular phase. I've always had huge saw tooth charts and this time its pretty steady. Not sure if its less stress this time around, or the reduced running that's played a role. I am guessing stress since this isn't the first cycle I've run less. Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow, but at least its just for 3 days!

All RPL Testing normal except Vit D deficiency.11/3/10 - Operative Hysteroscopy and D&C to remove polyps. Biopsy normal. TTCAL armed with progesterone supplements and extra Vit D!
Sammy--of course, we're happy for you to stick around here. Sending tons of good vibes for your u/s.
Avocados! Great idea. Yeah, I'm really missing the fat in my diet and you're totally right that I feel less full bc I'm lacking it. I've been making tons of Indian vegetarian dishes in the past week--it's been fun but I'm a little sick of cooking so much. Tomorrow might be a salad night!
Julia--I'm sorry you've dealt with depression, too--me, too. I took SSRIs for many years until we started TTC. You said that you're always on guard for signs of another episode--me, too, and I used to feel overly sensitized to it. Like, if I was blue for a few days, I was completely concerned that it was coming back. I'm not quite as worried about it now but it's always in the back of my mind.
Glad it helped not to tell DH about the key days for BD--I hate that term, too, but I still use it! Good job on getting in a good try with everything (guest, etc) stacked against you. Hope you're feeling better. Yeah, I think if I were you, I'd pick the day after your Peak Day as your Oday.
AFM--Raging + OPK today--yay! I was worried that I would have problems figuring out my first strong OPK day, since I usually have one darkening day before it's actually +. However, yesterday was definitely neg and today was definitely +, so my prog test will be in a week.
My fall seasonal allergies have hit big time and I broke down and took Zyrtec today. I hate to take it bc of possibly drying up CM, and I have no Preseed (gonna buy some), but hopefully yesterday was our best BD day, anyway (before I took the Zyrtec). I've felt tons better after taking it but my stomach is still bothering me some--I get such systemic affects from my hayfever that it affects my stomach! Turns out that women with allergies are more likely to have endo.
Ramona--that's great that your chart is looking better! Glad your trip was fun and that you didn't have to cancel it. I've been to the Everglades and one of my most vivid memories of it is the mosquitos--I think they're bigger there! And plentiful! Do you know anything about your sister's TTC plans?
Yeah, I think I'm having some issues getting enough fat/protein. It's hard on a practically vegan diet! I'm not sure how long I'm going to last eating this way. Snacks are the hardest--not sure what to snack on besides fruit and nuts, and I'm eating a ton of nuts.
Good luck going back to work tomorrow. It's only a short week--you can do it!
Holly - that's great that you got a raging + OPK today and that your 7 dpo test will fall on a week day! Don't some companies make gluten free crackers or chips? You could try that or veggies with hummus. I love hummus! Or popcorn - is that gluten free? Another good snack food. I like to make trail mix with various nuts, seeds & dried fruit. Its a little more exciting than just nuts. Also, almond butter or peanut butter are good with celery or apples. I like the all natural kind, even though its a bit messier to stir when you open it. Another thing you can try if you haven't, is quinoa. It is a whole grain that has lots of protein in it. There are many ways to make it, one of my favorites is quinoa pilaf w/ carrots, onion, walnuts & parsley.Sorry your allergies are awful! Pre-seed is wonderful, I don't have a lot of CM, so I use it even without allergy meds. Hopefully you are covered this month and don't need to worry about the zyrtec! Interesting that you say that women with allergies are more likely to have endo. I think I remember in my The Infertility Cure book that endo is seen by TCM as a auto-immune problem.
Ramona, THANK YOU for all your snack ideas. I bought some of your suggestions at Whole Foods today--popcorn, trail mix, baked corn chips, carrots for dipping in hummus. I have a great hummus recipe and will make some this weekend. They had a bunch of gluten-free chips but all of them had added sugar, another endo diet no-no. I didn't make it to the cracker aisle. I love natural almond butter and peanut butter, too. That brings up one question I have--if I'm eliminating dairy & wheat bc they're immunogenic, why are nuts not off-limits? Maybe nut allergies are less common than the others?
Do you saute the carrots & onions before adding to your quinoa in the pilaf recipe? Any other ingredients?
The Pre-seed website says you can buy it at CVS--I'll check it out. Glad to hear that you really like it. Yeah, I've read in a few places, I think, that endo is seen by many as being immune-related.
OH! Question for you guys: is there a certain time of day I should schedule my 7dpo test for?
Holly - it might seem a bit off-topic but I am busy reading The Autism Book by Dr Sears and he goes into quite a bit of detail on why it helps to eliminate gluten and casein (wheat and dairy) from kids' diet, to help improve the GI issues. I can't recall the chemistry but he does give the basics in the book, and the thing with gluten and casein is the way they are metabolised in the gut. If the body does not have the right enzymes to break down gluten and casein, it forms morphine-like compounds, and that's the reason why eliminating gluten and casein can have such a profound effect. Nuts would be a straightforward allergic reaction, the way I understand it.
That's why I also think that eliminating gluten and casein can help significantly when it comes to improving overall health.
And just for the record I can definitely recommend Dr Sears' Vaccine Book as well as his Autism Book - it's a wealth of knowledge and really made me feel better prepared for when you get that sticky BFP !!!
Holly~ Thanks. No I haven't talked to a professional and don't want to talk to some stranger about stuff. How are you doing?Sandra~ Thanks. It is just hard knowing i should be 23 weeks tomorrow. We are probably going to do another IUI after vacation. not sure. haven't been back to talk to RE since the check every week to make sure hcg numbers went down. He did some testing of blood tests and hsg and everything he had done came back normal so no reason so far for the miscarriages. How are you? Sammy~ HI! That's good the therapist helped you. but it wouldn't help me cause not comfortable talking to strangers about my losses and stuff. good luck with the ultrasound. how far are you?Julia~ Hi!Lorasteph~ Hi!SBR2~ Hi! I probably left around june after 4th loss in may. just came back on here recently. How are you?
