After being on birth control for the past 10+ years, my husband and I are TTC (for about three months). At the advice of my OBGYN, who said “stop birth control the month before you want to get pregnant,” I stopped taking the pill at the end of May. Since then, I’ve only had one period and seem to be stuck in some sort of temperature limbo lately – consistent temp for five days, followed by three days of lower temperatures, then back up to repeat the cycle. I’d post my charts, but struggle with inputting the data (lots of error messages).
After a discussion with my OBGYN, I’m going to take a 14-day round of progesterone to force a period and hopefully re-boot my cycle. The plan is to refer us to an infertility specialist if I’m still not experiencing regular period after three months. I’m 33, and my husband is 32. I had been really hoping that we’d get pregnant naturally, without drugs. Now, we’re faced with who knows how much intervention for the sake of not wasting time because of my age.
I’m incredibly frustrated. I lie awake at night wondering what’s wrong with my body. When will things become normal? I figure I’m probably not alone and wanted to start a forum so others can give a voice to their frustrations and feelings, and hope that others who have already been down this road can share.
