dh and dd and I are going on a cruise, and it's our first.

anything that we should remember to bring that maybe we wouldn't think of?

*note: dd is 8 months, and only BF.  and we normally do cloth diapers, but are doing disposable for the trip.

Well.....what are you bringing so we could tell you what you're forgetting?

I just went on a cruise last month and I cant think of anything that I should have brought.

Definitely pack some bottled waters and other canned sodas in your suitcase not your carry on.

I also smuggled some vodka in my suitcase just to have a variety of refreshments in my room on hand.

Everything I needed/wanted was on board.

Have fun!

I'm all about the food on a cruise!

a sweater!  Even though the desitinations are usually warm, I found the ships to be freezing!

thank you!  Yeah I was thinking sweaters would be good.  Especially for DD.  I was wondering about tights???  are bare legs ok for her?  (I'm bringing lots of cute dresses).

do they let you bring bottled water on airplaines??  I know not in carry on, but I thought you weren't allowed to at all.

Has anyone been through, or heard about, those new see-through-your-clothes, x-ray type scanners at airports?  Does the baby have to go through as well?  kinda weird.

any tips for flying with a baby as well?  is it good  to nurse while taking off and landing for her ears? (and distraction)

and there's so much luggage! Surprise $$  We have to bring 80 Diapers! Surprise

I don't have much time left, so I have alot of questions Smile

Hey Cher!  I cruise a lot because DH and I do some work for one of the major cruise lines.  Bare legs are totally fine for DD.  In fact, I never wear anything BUT bare legs, even with my formal gown.

You can certainly put bottled water in your checked baggage at the airport, but cannot carry any through security (unless it's under 3 oz, and what's the point of that?  I would not advise trying to sneak liquor onto the cruise ship.  They will find it and take it away (you get it back at the end of the cruise).  It's really not worth the hassle.  The onboard duty free shops have great deals on alcohol anyway.

I don't know about those scans either.  Makes me nervous as a potentially pregnant lady.  I haven't had one of those scans yet, though.

Please let me know if you have any other specific questions.  I can't think of anything off the top of my head, but if you pick my brain, all kinds of stuff will come out!  :-)

thank you so much, ovoki!

(the alchohol won't be a problem, cuz we don't drink anyway.)

but I was wondering if car seats are law on airport shuttles??  we are having her on our lap for the flight, and really don't want to have bring it for a five minute bus ride.

also, if the cruise excursion says it's age appropriate for our 8 month old, will she be allowed on that tour bus without one as well?

tia!

Dramamine! I don't know if it's BF-safe, so if it isn't, make sure to bring some sort of safe effective alternative. I've never been carsick, but was SICK from the sea. Dramamine and pressure bracelets were my best friends.

Water-proof case for ship card, credit card, etc... (You can usually buy this on the ship, but it'd be cheaper bought ahead if you can find one.
