I was diagnosed recently with a septate uterus (while I was pregnant in July they found I had a strange shade in the uterus) and lost the baby, making it my second loss, fastforward 2 months, they found out for sure I have a septum... so now I'm scheduled for a hysteroscopic resection on 12/15 in the morning...

I just wanted to see if anyone here could tell me what to expect. How long was your recovery time? How long were you off work? How long after the surgery can you ttc again? If you were able to conceive after your resection, how long was it after the surgery that you got pregnant? Were you able to carry the baby to term? Anything will help!

I'm really nervous about this procedure. An experienced RE is doing it, but it still doesn't put me at rest.

Day surgery, 3 days cramping and bleeding, have a clotting disorder so all I can say is the 1 I have implanted fine but he was 16 years after the surgery and the surgery was NOT responsible for no babies but the septum wasn't helping. Had surgery on Thurs afternoon missed the Thurs and Fri was glad I had the weekend off.

i had a resection, it was not previously responsible for any of my early losses, but they found it, so we dealt with it. my recovery time was about 1 week. we were given the go ahead to try again after one full cycle. got pregnant 8 cycles later. normal pregnancy, he's now 4. im 12 weeks pregnant now with no problems.

hth, best of luck, there are many resection success stories on here!

Thank you ladies... for the the septum is causing my m/c's... there is no space for the babies to grow at all, so they die at around the same gestetional wk, but at least now I know what causing the losses and we can fix it.

I'm excited but nervous...

Just wanted to say you have a partner in surgery. I will be having the exact same thing done on the exact same day!! Amazing, huh?

My RE also told me that the septum was responsible for high miscarriage rate, though in our case it seems to mainly hinder implantation (only one BFP, and fortunately, one baby!). But as we understand it, probably no more babies until we get this fixed.

I am also scheduled for a week off of work after the surgery. To tell the truth, I'm looking forward to having some quiet time while also (hopefully) fixing my fertility problem.

Good luck to you and let me know how it goes. I'll do the same!

Oh wow, Jen, I'll be thinking of you too, and please do come and tell me how it goes. I have my pre-op appt tomorrow, so I hope the RE says I don't need too much time off. I hate being at home. W/having lost 2 babies in 1 yr (the most recent being 2 months ago) I get too depressed being alone at home.

Good luck and let's hope they fix our uteri! [L]

We have a consult coming up for a lap/hyst to see if I have one of these in addition/instead of the bicornuate uterus. [hug]

Hope it's a septum instead of a bicornuate! Let us know how it goes, ok?

Thanks. Seriously, lots of good thoughts for you. It's a scary thing to have even minor surgery, and it's hard not to pin all your hopes on it "fixing" everything.

Good luck to you too! Are you nervous? I am doing okay, mainly trying to focus on the time off and not what happens on the actual day.

We are on the path to babies!!

I am nervous but I met the RE who is doing the surgery and I am confident it's going to go good... the only bad thing is that I cannot sleep much because I think about this too much... argh!

They found I had one, after RE ordered an HSG. The surgery really wasn't that bad. Certainly nothing to be super scared or worried about. The first 2 days I was really tender, but after that, as long as I took it easy, it was super easy. I went back to work in 2 or 3 days, I can't recall. I actually went on a business trip, which was a mistake I quickly realized, but normal work would have been fine after 2 or 3 days.

As far as pregnancy...I had the surgery in September. They did the surgery right as AF was ending. I started IVF protocol a few weeks later, and was pregnant with twins by November. Beautiful pregancy, carried to term, and have never looked back.

For me that surgery was really a blur. I just wanted it done, and to move on to the next thing, so I refused to acknowledge it, or let it slow me down...ha!

I got my septum removed on thursday night..and I admit I'm still far from feeling alright. I have not been able to sit up straight for more than 5 mins..let alone getting back to normal chores. I was given high estrogen dose post surgery which is making me bleed like AF..so my weakness is just aggravating. Surgery was ok...but its been 3 days already..and I cant say I can get back to work tomorrow ( Monday)..:-(

Oh wow, that is awesome! So you got pregnant right away! I hope that's the case for me and Jen and hopefully we can both carry to term too. I don't think I'll ever be able to enjoy a pregnancy after losing 2 babies... so I'll be like you wating it to be done.

Thanks for sharing w/us!

Thank you for all these posts on the surgery. I have been a bit jittery all day.

Mattsgal-It's wonderful to think that in just a month we could be starting IVF and getting pregnant. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing your experience!

Verity- Did your doc have you take BCP this month? It's supposed to help with the healing, but I guess that's what the estrogen is for as well? Hope you fell better soon!!!!

Yessisan- One last [#] and [fc] and [pr] for a speedy recovery. Let's check back in here as soon as we feel up to it. It has helped me mentally so much to know I have someone else going through the same thing.

Bitobsessive- Thanks for the good wishes. Let us know what they find out for you!

Verity, I'm sorry you're still not feeling too well. So you don't think I could go to work the next day? I was told by the RE that I could if someone drove me... now it's making me think twice about taking a shift on Tuesday... My RE's also going to give me estrogen, I relly wish I didn't get that because that agravates my endometriosis [:'(] I guess it's one thing or the other... [:'(]

I hope you heal well and feel well soon!

Jen, again, good luck to you. I'm very nervous about tomorrow, but before you know it, we'll be typing here about how it went. Hope you have a speedy recovery too! [#][#] Is your surgery early in the day? I'm supposed to be heading home around 11-11:30am... I hope you have a morning surgery too.

So, back to feeling jittery/anxious/nervous. [:'(]

You are all very welcome. This surgery was definately not a huge delay to my pregnancy/IVF etc. It was all worth it, and I was very grateful to my RE for insisting I had this issue corrected (I REALLY didn't want to).

I just wanted to add, I really was feeling up to work(a desk job) with 2 or 3 days, but the day after...that would have been really difficult. I don't know if I would plan on working the next day if there is any way to get out of it.

Well, turns out my surery was cancelled when I got there. Somehow, I'm pregnant even though we used a condom to avoid this time.

I'm so sad because this is most likely ending in miscarriage. My HCG levels are too low to begin with... I hope Jen had better luck than me.
