hi folks,
I am probably headed for IVF as soon as we can scrape the finances into order. I was wondering if anyone else here had similar numbers to mine, and what your experience was.
DH has good swimmers. I had only two follies on each side in the ultrasound, and worse, had only one tube show up in the HSG. uterus normal otherwise.
when we went for the consult after completing all the tests, I didn't catch what units the day 3 bloodwork used, sorry. the RE said my FSH was 9.4 when 10 is the threshold for "high," and said my AMH is 0.16 when they're looking for 3 or 4. so, low ovarian reserve. and I'm like Low?!?! that's beyond low.
I'm freaking out, kind of. and I am so new to all this, I don't know what to think. but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with attempting ART with these kinds of numbers? and would you be willing to tell me about it?
DH 44, no issues. me 38, one tube, high FSH, low AMH. TTC no. 1 since 9/2010 mc 4w4d 12/2011
Hi there,
I'm 39 and TTC #3. We conceived DD in 2008 on our own, and then needed Clomid to conceive my son in 2010.
TTC #3 has been a different situation - thanks, old ovaries. ;) Six months and still trying. My AMH is 0.45, which my RE said was not great (he said anything "over 2" was good) - HOWEVER, he also told me that it doesn't really matter what your numbers are IF your ovaries respond to medications. (I seem to respond well to Femara.) So there is hope!! See my siggy for details. Good luck!!!
Me (39) DH (41)
TTC #1 for 5 cycles, 5w3d, got PG with DD 6 weeks later born Jan 2008 @ 37w3d
TTC #2 for 4 cycles, got PG on Clomid Challenge test cycle born June 2010 @ 38 weeks
TTC #3 since July 2011July: (chemical) - first try!Aug: learned I have DOR - clock's ticking!Sept: Clomid 50mg - BFNOct: Clomid 100mg - cysts, bad CF, BFNNov: Femara 2.5, IUI #1 (poorly timed) - BFNDec: Femara 5.0, IUI cancelled, BD'd on O day only - BFNJan: Femara 5.0, IUI #2 (perfectly timed!) - BFP! (chemical/ectopic - most bizarre cycle ever...)BENCHED until April - cysts Late April: injectibles, IUI #3
thank you Liz888! that's really hopeful information.
best of luck to you too!
My AMH number was really low too, lower than yours, .1 but my FSH was in the seven's, I think?? Anyway, because my AMH was so low and my age, my doctor referred me to an RE, she did one cycle of Femara (she prefers Femara over Clomid) combined with IUI, I got pregnant the first try...,my son just turned one
HTH and good luck!!

My FSH was in the 9-10 range. Back when I was going through testing AMH just wasn't a common test so I have no idea how it was. I was 27 when I did IVF and they ended up retrieving 5 eggs. It was low, but the quality was good and we ended up pregnant with twins from a 3dt of 2 embryos. And miracle of miracles, they even were able to freeze 2 at blast stage. We ended up losing one of the twins, but the survivor is now 2.5 and amazing.
My advice would be to do this as quickly as humanly possible. Time is not on our side with DOR. I would also make sure you really research different protocals for women with high FSH/ low AMH. If you are OOP (which it sounds like you are), you can't afford for them to go in blind and just treat you like any other 30 year old with great numbers and then correct for future cycles. One of the things that happened to me is that I was over suppressed by the typical BCP and Lupron supression that they give an "average" 27 year old. I was not average - obviously. And I think that really contributed to my low number at ER.
Good luck!

My daughter was concieved thanks to IVF with ICSI. She was born at 35w4d due to pPROM.
My son was concieved by *surprise!*, naturally, the month after I weaned my daughter. He was born at 39w4d after 17P shots and Procardia. Proof that miracles do happen after the long road of infertility and losses.
