We're still extremely early, but given how much trouble we had last time with girls names, I figure it's best to get a head start!! Sheila will likely be the middle name after my mother - not a very easy name to put as a middle name, unfortunately.

You're all making Natalie grow on me even more!
I voted for Natalie as well. I think of your choices, it goes best with Sheila, but I really don't think that Sheila goes well with any of those names as a MN. It is great to honor your mother, but that is a difficult one to match with a first name IMO. I think that Sheila is one of those names that is just best as a first name...

Me too... and now they are tie. I lean a little more towards Vivian because it's a pretty name that should be brought back.

I know, it's soooo hard! It just doesn't work naturally as a middle name, but honoring my mother is extremely important to me. I would use her middle name, but it's Stacey which doesn't work THAT much better as a middle name. But even if it did work better, my mother used the maiden name trick when she named my sister (my sister's middle name is my grandmother's maiden name). She used the trick because my grandmother's name was awful (Eithne) so I know my mother would be slightly insulted and thinking that I hate Sheila, which I don't. It's not an ideal middle name, but we'll figure out a way to make it work!!
Have to agree with some PP that Sheila, while a nice name, doesn't work all that well as a middle name with any of your options. And you've chosen some beautiful first names!! Would you be open to making it the first name and the girl goes by her middle name? My friend's parents did that with her (Dorothy Michelle) as they were also trying to honour someone, but the reverse sounded bad.
I like Elizabeth or Caitlin--I am partial to Caitlin my , it is my first daughter's name.

Congrats again!! How exciting!!!
I love Hannah and Natalie - as a side note I always said that if I had a girl I would honor my Grandma and use her name as my DD middle name - The names dont flow well but who cares - her name is special to me - so I say pick whatever first name you like the best even if you dont think it sounds the best. Oh and my DD is Hannah Sylvia

Just my opinion- but I don't think the first name and middle name have to sound perfect together. My parents picked my middle name Lynn because it sounds nice with my first name- but it meant nothing and I always wished I had a name that meant something. I would have much rather had my Grandma (Thelma even!) than Lynn. I dropped Lynn when I got married and made my maiden name my middle because it was more special to me. So- I think Sheila will be fine... its not like people talk about their middle names all that much and Sheila is a nice name anyways! Good luck!

I'll just ditto ateach 84.....pick the names that mean something to you....other than legal documents and your parents calling you by your full name when you in trouble, we don't use mn very much :)
My vote is Natalie too. It's the girl name we had for our last 3 (if girls), but somehow switched in the end. Dh is hoping girl this time so we can finally use it. However, he says that her nickname would be gnat. He likes bug nicknames and I'm sorry, but gnat just isn't a cute one. Ladybug? Sure. His little butterfly? Sweet. Gnat? not so mich.
haha I've been Nat all my life. I quite like it as a nickname, though I did know another Natalie that hated being called Nat.
I voted for Vivian, just because I think it's a beautiful name that isn't heard as often.

I voted Natalie, but I also like Hannah, Caitlin and Vivian- especially with your DD's name.
I agree with posters who think that the MN doesn't have to sound perfect with the first name. I believe that the MN should have meaning over sounding good with the first name. MNs are so rarely used anyway. I do think that Alexandra and Louise are particularly awkward with Sheila though.

That is so great that you are honoring your mother. We named our daughter Helen after my grandmother and DH's great Aunt (who raised his father). And our son will have Joseph as his middle name which is the first name for DH's father and all his uncles (family tradition).
Also was wondering if you've tried using Nymbler yet (http://www.nymbler.com/). You can type "Sheila" as an inspiration and see what names come up in the list.
