Hey ladies, still hanging in here - thought I might be having a 2011 baby after all this morning. I had contractions (painful ones) 5-10 minutes apart for about 4 hours this morning. I sent hubby and the kids out and cleaned the house - feels great, now I just have to KEEP it clean. Didn't do bedding because I was afraid it would turn hard any minute and I wouldn't finish. gemzies, hmm, might be BHs after all then! :) I dunno, you are definitely due first! I can't decide if I want to go ASAP or wait until my parents get here - I guess either has its benefits. :) I'm mainly just tired of contractions that hurt and make me think it might be the real thing...evagrace, hang in there! I wasn't dilated at all before I went into labor with my last (and my labor was only 8 hours!). I don't do checks because I think they set us up for disappointment, but then I stupidly go and try and check myself. I get that soreness too - I think it's from places where my guy pushes out a lot - it just gets sore from the stretching. I wish people weren't so annoying about stuff like that! Personally I liked wearing my own clothes - I had a "birth skirt" and just a regular shirt. I did take my shirt and skirt off for pushing (I had an undershirt on though) because by then, I didn't really care and the OB wanted me to. Hoping not to take my skirt off this time. I think OBs typically discount effacement as progress and just look at dilation. Another reason I'm not so keen on them sometimes. Amy, yay, CONGRATS! I wondered if you'd go before me. She's a cutie and you look great!

Is 36 weeks too early to join? I sure feel like I'm in the home stretch. :) I've been having tons of BH contractions and today had a few that felt like real ones, but of course nothing regular yet. And I'm not quite ready to give birth - if I went into labor now my coworkers would flip because I haven't fully transitioned everything yet. Still, it's fun to think it's getting so close!
austingirl, I joined at about 35 weeks I think because I was having SO many real contractions. :) Hope you hold out at least another week or two!!
Well... we welcomed Asher on his actually due date! Dec 29, 2011 at 9:09pm 9lbs 2oz and 21inches.
Labor came on fast and furious, which was awesome! Great labor, great delivery (no tears, no stitches, 29 min of pushing and a 14" head)
we are both doing great. Rang in the new year last night with a nursing session

Congratulations on baby Asher!
How is nursing going? We had a little bit of a tough start, but things seem to be better now. Sierra got down to 5 lbs. 11 oz., but is now on the way up again.

Congratulations want1more and luv2bmomma! Two more babies, woohoo!!
I hope everyone had a great new year, I know we did. Very low key, just hung out with family and watched DS and my neice play. My neice just started walking and DS is amazed, and slightly freaked out! New Year's Day was gorgeous here in SoCal, 85*, so we went to the beach and wandered around. Hopefully all that walking was productive. This morning my body did a major (TMI) clean-out, but I'm not sure if that's baby related or junk food related

I am still here... Decided I really don't want to have this baby for at least another week and a half. My folks will be here in 8 days - I at least want to wait that long now (would save us a lot of money and stress with getting the sitter). But on top of that, I just started a 10 day course of antibiotics tonight for my awful sinus infection. I'd really like to get a day or two past the end of the course so I can restore my body chemistry a little...Most of all, I just don't want to have a baby in the next 2 days - we are getting DUMPED on here (snow) and it is really cold. I so do not want to go out in this... Of course, I am now past when I had DD2, so I'm starting to get anxious. My ideal right now would be to go ON my due date +- a day or two. gemzies, sounds lovely! We had a low-key at home NYE. :) :)Who else is still here?
Yaye! I get to join the group! I'm really beginning to feel big and sleeping... what's that?
I have shooting pains with what might be the cervix... but also feels like the urethra? Does anyone else experience this? Mb it's an infection?

Are they constant? I get sharp shooting pains in what feels like my cervix as well, but they are quick, kind of like being poked with a pencil. They mostly happen in the evening/at night. I've always assumed that it was just the baby's head bumping against it.

Want1more - nursing has been going so great! That was my biggest concern about this time around since I had a horrible time with ds #1. But my milk came in almost 72 hours exactly after birth. Asher latched on like a pro just about an hour after delivery. It's been incredible! He left the hospital at 8lbs 12 oz and at his first dr. appt today he was 8lbs 10.5oz. So not much weight loss at all!

Yeah, it's quick and shooting, Doesn't stay very long. I get it throughout the day.
Congrats to you ladies who had your babies!!!
Hey everyone, I'm officially joining the group after stalking the ENTIRE past two months
I'm 37+5, was just checked yesterday and the Dr. is pretty sure I will not go this week. Boo. But I still can't help obsessing over the way my body feels (heavy, tired and achy so far) and living vicariously through those ladies who DO have true signs of maybe going into labor soon!!
Sorry no time for personals now, but I will check back soon...and a huge congrats to everyone who's had their babies recently! So exciting!!

Yay! I can finally join this group. My EDD is January 29th. My belly gets real tight throughout the day but no major discomforts. Getting in and out of bed is an ordeal, though. Oh and tying my shoes is a challenge too.
Hi ya'll, still hanging in there... In 6 days I'll feel better about baby coming (that's when my parents will be here). Still kinda hoping for more like 9 or so days (to get the antibiotics out of my system).... Of course, less than 14 days would be great too since the pressure for induction is going to ramp up at 40 weeks. What are the odds I'd go right at 40 weeks, give or take a day? Mrs FitChick, welcome to the home stretch! :) I'm going to go with baby position/movements. I get all kinds of fun sharp pains in my cervix, bladder, legs, etc...Cassy, , I totally love to stalk this thread as I get closer to the end. I don't believe in checks. I wasn't dilated at all when I went into labor with my last. I've also heard of women being dilated to 4 or more for weeks... So, meh, no one can tell you when baby will come!purpleplus, welcome! :) Sounds like you're having some BHs. I am the queen of them and while interesting, they truly do nothing.... :(
I'm 40 weeks today, yay me. Still have not had one contraction! Do you think I should ask the OB to strip my membranes? I know she's going to ask at my appointment later today and I can't decide what I should do! I've heard there might be a 50/50 chance that it'll do something. Or some say it doesn't do anything, but only seems to do something when the body is already getting ready to start labor, so basically no one knows.
I don't think they'll start talking about induction for another week, but I wonder how many times they'd have to try stripping membranes before it might do something... I was only a fingertip dilated last week so I don't think they can do it anyways unless I'm dilated more... I'm not sure.
Also, after 40 weeks, do they start doing NSTs to check the baby or what do they do? Baby seems to be moving a little less, but still several times a day and her kicks are really strong, I feel like she might bust through my stomach! I'm still taking RRL tea, EPO and have been using my breast pump a little each day to try to stimulate something.
Calladona:at 40 weeks, give or take a day?
I know when I had my third I really thought she would be early my first two where born at 36 and 38 weeks well she came on my due date they told me in the hospital that only 10 percent of women give birth on there due date . I thought that was interesting. Good Luck with your new little one!

Susan... did you bring up that mucus plug thread? I'm about to check it out... and probably barf after lol! Fingers crossed baby holds on just a little longer for your parents to come in!
I had my midwife appt today and had an ultrasound bc they were worried about his growth. WORST looking ultrasound ever! Everything is fuzzy and you can't make hardly any shapes out, oh but I can see his foot in one pic, and unmistakeable scrotum lol. They aren't worried at all. Said that since I am petite, it's good that he measures smaller at 5.5lbs. She estimates 6 MAYBE 7 lbs at birth. She doesn't want him bigger than that for ease of labor. She thinks I will deliver sooner. Found out Strep B is present. What does that mean?
