I feel like this is something I should buy in person, but our BRU has only a few and I'm not thrilled with any of them. We also have a Bed Bath & Beyond with a huge baby section (we're actually registered there), but same thing, not thrilled with them. I like the all upholstered look. But I feel like if I can't sit in it first, I shouldn't be buying it. I love the look of this one: http://www.landofnod.com/adult-seating/kids-furniture/luca-glider--ottoman/f8039 and this one is similar: http://www.amazon.com/Babyletto-Nara-Glider-Suede-Mocha/dp/B004MW3EQ4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1325207835&sr=8-1. And Amazon has free shipping and free returns, so that's tempting. But does anyone have either of these, something similar to these, or just have one that they really love?

I thought about getting a glider for this DD, but after reading so many negative reviews about the different ones on target and BRU... I decided against it. With DS I just nursed him in the high-backed office chair that was in his room (he shared his room with the office). I would recommend just getting a regular ol' lazy-boy or something from a furniture store as opposed to something made specifically for a nursery. I think you'll get better quality - at least just from what I've gathered from random reviews.

Ditto! We got our baby furniture from BRU and it sucks! Every single piece has had something break within weeks of getting it ... and broken again once repaired (drawers get jammed and out of alignment, knobs have fallen off, drop-side would keep jamming until it was recalled, etc).
We got a glider with our furniture set that we bought at rooms to go (not the best quality furniture either ). The assumption is I would use it with DD (first baby) once born but really I never did (because she would cry bloody murder if you sat down with her and I spent hours pacing my condo every day and night with her that first year )
We've had that glider for 4 yrs now and it is my DH's favorite tv chair

I meant to add that to my post, that we were going to go to the La-z boy store and see what they had. So I think we definitely will do that!
We have a glider for our baby's nursery, I've had it since we had our first son. My SIL reupholstered it for me because it was such a wreck after going through 3 babies. I don't find it to be the most comfortable thing in the world, I'd rather spend my time in nice plush rocker recliner down in the family room...BUT...I don't want to be going downstairs in the middle of the night to nurse her every time she wakes up, so it will be nice to have something in her room. Had we not already owned it, I probably still would have bought something cheap to sit in for her room, I probably would have looked on Craigslist.
I spent the majority of my time downstairs, and so I probably will be sitting in the rocker recliner downstairs most of the time when nursing her.
I would suggest not buying anything overly expensive....babies throw up a lot and WILL get it on your chair. Just sayin'. I wouldn't spend $600 on a nice chair for this purpose. Get a lower priced chair with upholstery that is easy to clean.

Don't worry too much...like every store, BRU carries different brands/various types of furniture. Our dresser from BRU was purchased when we had ds#2 and is over 7 years old and still perfect. It's a beautiful piece of furniture, high quality. I also loved our old crib from BRU but it was recalled when they recalled all dropside cribs a few years ago and so we had to get a new one for this baby. That crib was great - awesome quality, beautiful wood.
We purchased a new crib and dresser for this baby and didn't bother with heirloom quality stuff - this is our last baby. eh.
Oh yeah, ThreePrinces, I also meant to add that while I looked the "look" of those chairs, they were way more than I wanted to spend.. lol.
My mom and I went into a kids furniture store and spent about an hour looking through swatches and finally decided on a custom covered Dutailier glider. They have fully upholstered and non-upholsterd. I absolutely love mine because I got the fabric I wanted and didn't settle for some stock microsuede (not a fan of microsuede) plus it has a multi-position lock and recline on it.... it is so comfy... I sit and glide in it all the time... it pretty much puts me to sleep and I often find my hubby in it just gliding away. I like the lock feature b/c then I won't have to worry about LO pinching fingers as she gets older. I also wanted a fully upholstered but ended up going with their "grand" glider wihch is fully covered, but you can remove the covers for cleaning or if you want to change the color. It is such a great piece of furniture, eventually we will use it somewhere in our home after we are done using it in the nursery. Check out their website, they have a dealer locator on the website.

We got Babi Italia brand ... I looked now and couldn't find the armoire or crib we got (bought almost 4yrs ago) but it was a convertable crib similar to the pinehurst or eastside models they have now. We never converted the crib to a toddler bed, just set the drop-side part of the crib to NOT slide (the recall only gave you a kit to screw the dropside in so it wouldn't drop ).
Not sure if there is a HOM furniture in your area, but that's where we bought our glider and it is SO COMFORTABLE! And we were able to buy the floor model for almost 40% off!! The ottoman did not come with it and was an additional ~130 bucks, but worth it. For now it's in our living room, as we are still currently childless, but we bought it with the intent of someday putting it in our nursery.

I tried a bunch of different gliders at BRU and Target and none of them seemed very comfortable. My husband ended up buying me a Sealy rocker/recliner from Big Lots for under $300 and I LOVE it! (So does he) I'm so happy we went this route. My friend got a glider from Target and she loves it, but when I tried it out I thought my butt was going to fall asleep if I sat in it for more than 10 minutes.

I've been going back and forth on whether or not to buy a glider and spend so much money on the kind I like. I was in Seattle over Christmas and they have my all-time favorite store there: IKEA. I ended up buying this: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/images/products/poang-rocking-chair__0093935_PE231544_S4.JPG and this http://www.ikea.com/us/en/images/products/poang-footstool__0093954_PE231563_S4.JPG and paying about a third of what it would have cost me to buy a comfortable glider. I am SO happy with it!

We got the Babi Italia brand... lol. We got this one: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4231538. The crib is beautiful, I wasn't totally sold on the dressers, but they look a lot nicer here than they did in the store. Oh well, I'll just keep my fingers crossed!
hagmannt: I've never even heard of that store, but I looked it and it looks like it's only in the midwest/west.. we're in PA, that's too bad. You got a great deal!!
Becky: Hmm, Big Lots, I never would have even thought of that. Thanks!
And Catie: I love Ikea too, but the motion of rocking chairs kind of freak me out. Haha, I feel like I'm falling backwards. I know.. I'm weird.
I went to La-Z boy today and didn't like anything in the store. They all look like "grandpa" chairs.. haha, if that makes sense.
I guess my question is, would you ladies buy something like this without sitting in it first? As in, order it online?
I had a glider from BRU on my registry and my mom didn't like it so she went online http://www.albeebaby.com/ and found one similar that she bought and had delivered.. I was excited but not sure because I hadn't tried it out.. But it came before christmas and I put it together myself (just the arms and the padding) and I love it! Plus this place seems to have stuff cheaper then BRU (if only by a few dollars) Maybe check it out?

I would as long as there are plenty of good reviews (I buy a lot from amazon).
Yeah, me too. Especially with the free shipping and free returns... can't beat that.
I use my glider alllll the time! It is an older BRU model but I got it barely used off craigslist for $100. It is the cherry wood color with the ottoman and in very nice shape. Just an idea if you are up for the "used" route

Just something to consider... All I have is an old rocking chair that I got from my grandma when she passed away. I have had it since high school and I love it, especially for sentimental reasons. For the most part it is very comfy, even though it does squeak a bit which doesn't bother me or DD. The only thing that does bother me is that the back is "short." For those middle of the night feedings, all I wanted to do was lay my head back on the chair and relax, but I couldn't because the back of the rocking chair only comes up to my shoulder blades. Both chairs that the OP has links for are too short, IMO. I would want a chair that I could lean my head back to rest on. Like I said, just a thought. It might not be a consideration for everyone, but for me it would one of the most important things to consider if I were to buy a glider.

I absolutely agree. I'm pretty short though (~5'1") so there aren't too many chairs that are too short for me.. lol. According to Babyletto's website: http://www.babyletto.com/products/nara-glider, the seat back is 28.5" high, so when I'm sitting, that's plenty of room (like an extra 8-12") for me to rest my head back. Excellent point though!!
