Hi. I miscarried Sunday.  Still bleeding and I don't think there has been enough tissue yet so I probably have a bit more to go before this is all over.   But, I wondered if anyone temped through a miscarriage. When should my temp go back down?  It is lower than it was but I'm still above my coverline.  I assumed it would drop by now.

Thanks.

I am so sorry that you are going through this! I did temp through my miscarriage in July. I posted my chart in the miscarriage chart gallery.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hugs!

I started temping 3 days after my large mass of tissue came out and it was right on my coverline that day and then hovered just below for the next week or so. If you still have tissue that may be keeping your temps up but I'm no doctor. Hopefully you'll pass everything very soon and start getting your body back to normal. So sorry for your loss.

If your OB isn't tracking your HCG and your temps haven't dropped to pre-O levels in the next couple of weeks, ask to be tested. They usually drop after you pass tissue, but it's a sign of retained products if it doesn't drop.

To give you an idea of how long it could take for your HCG to get back to zero, I miscarried on July 8th and my HCG level finally was around 0 on August 15th. I was a little over 8 weeks and pumped up with progesterone too.

The only way to know if you HCG level is back to normal is a blood test. I ovulated about 3 weeks after the miscarriage and had a very short LP that month. Last month, was closer to normal.

I hope this helps. Remember we are all here for you if you need us.

I am so sorry for your loss Hug. I hope that you have a good support system who is able to give you real life hugs.

Thanks for asking this question as I was wondering the same thing. Unfortunately, we got pregnant on only my third cycle postpartum (took a year to get my period back, almost to the day) and I hadn't started temping yet. But my temps are about .5 degree higher than where my coverline was prior to getting pregnant back in 2009. I actually see my doctor tomorrow and will be asking for a blood test to find out what the HcG level is.

My HcG level the day that we induced the miscarriage was about 58,000, at the follow up ultrasound on Monday (a week later) they said that there was no tissue remaining and that the lining was clear. I was surprised they didn't do a follow up HcG given how high it had been prior to miscarriage. This was through the early pregnancy clinic at my hospital not my primary care physician.

Once I know the HcG levels tomorrow I am hoping it will help me to better understand my temperatures. I'll let you know what I find out in case it might be helpful to you.

I'm so sorry for your loss! Hug My temp started dropping 2 days before I began bleeding and was back in the normal range within a few days of the bleeding stopping. (I believe I had 8 days total of bleeding and spotting.)

Thanks to everyone.  MY temps came down about 2 days after the bleeding stopped. I had only two days of bleeding and then three days of spotting and I had a negative FRER only a week later so I think the pregnancy must have failed even before the bleeding began.

With such an early loss, I'm hoping I O on time this month and we can get right back into the game!

Sounds like your body has adjusted quite well.

My temps have been up and down, but seem to be dropping a little more again today. My HcG level on day of miscarriage were in the 58,000 range and had dropped to 1400 in 12 days. I have to go for one final blood test on Monday next week to make sure that they are less than 5. Once they have gone to that level the doctor will book and u/s to check on how my ovarian cyst is doing and whether it has gone away. I think I felt it burst yesterday as I had some twinges and pain in the ovary area.

Good luck with the TTC this month. Hoping and praying for a sticky bean for you (and for me).
