I hope it's okay to post this here, but I was hoping to get some Clomid successful stories, and who better to ask than ladies who are pregnant! ;)
Specifically, I'm wondering if anyone who was already ovulating regularly on their own (no PCOS, endometriosis, or other known issues) took Clomid and was able to get PG? We've been TTCing for 2 years now, and I'm ovulating each month already, so it's just unexplained infertility. I'm wondering if Clomid is going to help at all, or if it's primarily successful for women who weren't ovulating on their own. I do hope it will extend my luteal phase (which is pretty short at around 10 days), but since I'm already ovulating, I don't know if Clomid will help us get PG.
Thanks very much, and congrats to you all :D
I was prescribed clomid after over a year of TTC--I was ovulating on my own and was lumped in the unexplained category. I got pregnant on my 3rd clomid cycle (100mg), but sadly it ended in m/c at 7 weeks. Once we were cleared to try again, I got pregnant on the 2nd clomid cycle plus an IUI. Good luck--clomid definitely helped me!
I was diagnosed with mild endo and had a lap procedure that cleaned it up. I have very regular periods and ovulate on my own, but I did have a short luteal phase too, around 10 days too.) I was prescribed clomid after my lap was done to help me produce a better egg and increase my luteal phase. I asked for progesterone for my luteal phase while I was on clomid for a double back up. I got preggo on my first cycle of clomid 50 mg cd 3-7.
DD is a clomid baby (and other stuff- see siggie). Clomid bumped my progesterone from the 7's to the 20's and extended my lp by three or so days usually.
I did have light endo and fibroids, no pcos though and ovulate on my own and had/have very *regular* cycles.
I'm guessing you've done an HSG and SA's for dh? (dang that's a lot of acromnyms there!)

I'm assuming DH has been checked out to make sure everything is good on his side?
Honestly I'm not sure I'd be a "success" story. I've got PCOS and Insulin Resistance, so I do have known issues. However I ovulate regularly so it was to strengthen the ovulation. I was on it four months, got pregnant naturally and wound up miscarrying. It's when I was off of it 4 months I found out I was pregnant with my DS. I tried it two months with no success after a couple years TTC #2, only took it for that long because of the side effects of it. Got pregnant 3 months after being off it naturally, miscarried September 2009. Got pregnant naturally, miscarried May 2010. Went on clomid for a final hurrah, got pregnant 3 months of being on it, and so far it's going great. Oddly enough it didn't help my progesterone (it was 7 on 7dpo, thankfully did rise to 20 11dpo when I found out I was pregnant).
I know my story doesn't quite help, but let me say this... if you know your DH doesn't have any issues by SA I'd honestly say clomid is worth a shot.
After 11 months of TTC naturally, my doctor prescribed Clomid. This last cycle was my 3rd round of the meds. Today, I took 2 HPT and they were both Positive!!!!!!!!! I went to my doctor for my usually blood draw a few weeks after I ovulated. I got the psotive blood draw confirmation from my doctor a few days later. I went to the doctor for my first ultrasound at week 7 and everything is great! The baby is where it should be, the growth is normal, and there is only one (to my husbands disappointment). Depending on the person, Clomid can work wonders!
Thanks for sharing your experiences, everyone! I got my Clomid prescription, but we decided at the last minute not to take it this month. Just feeling like I want to find out if there's anything else that's obviously wrong, that we can fix. So I'm trying to schedule an appt with a fertility specialist, as my ObGyn doesn't seem too eager to do testing beyond the obvious (blood test came back fine, HSG was good, DH's SA is great...) So anyways, I'm sticking with acupuncture this month, upping my water intake and will start taking Mucinex soon, and hopefully we'll have some more info so we can decide if Clomid is right for us next cycle.
I did clomid 50mg in Nov, and BFN. then 100mg in Dec and got a BFP Jan 12! Good luck!!
I have unexplained fertility as well. To get pregnant with our first child I went through 4 iui's and 2 ivfs. The second ivf was successful and we have a healthy beautiful 15 month old. I tried clomid just to see.....before I called the RE, etc. I was not hopeful at all. I am pregnant now....extremely early, but hopeful!!!! Crazy!!! Go to dr. tomorrow for u/s. We'll see..... I am pregnant after two months of clomid, bumped up from 50 to 100 mg.
I fit the bill for what you're asking. I was ovulating fairly regularly on my own, and our fertility tests checked out OK. After 10 months of TTC unsuccessfully, my doc prescribed Clomid 50mg CD5-9. The first month we took it, we got pregnant. That does not mean that it was definitely the Clomid--it could have just been our month--but I would say given the circumstances that it was most likely the Clomid that gave me the boost I needed. I had an 11-12 day LP. I can't say if it lengthened it since I never got my period on it.
Wish you good luck!

Pregnancy #1 with first round of Clomid and 10 mos. TTC
cndnveggie - I have been ttc for about three years and just got my first BFP this week on my second round of clomid. I have alwasy o'd and no other issues with either me or my dh. we were convinced it was not going to work because I already O'd so I was thinking it was something else dont ask me what I have no idea but it worked....just hoping this little bean sticks! GL!
Yes, normal ovulator here who got PG on my first Clomid cycle!
I always O'd around day 11 or 12, and had no "issues," and DH's SA was great. We got PG on our own with DD on our 5th try. Then when we were trying for #2, I got impatient after 3 cycles (mostly just worried about my increasing age, then 36 1/2) so an RE ordered the standard tests for me, one of which was the "Clomid Challenge" test to gauge ovarian response. I took 100mg on CD5-9 and ended up PG with my son that cycle! So it definitely worked for me. My RE had said that even though I was ovulating on my own and regularly, he thought CD 11 or 12 *could* be a little early, and that a later/stronger ovulation might help me get PG... he was right. FWIW, my progesterone which was usually about 20, soared to 109 that cycle.
Me (40) DH (41)

I am a normal ovulator also and got pregnant my first time on 50mg clomid. I was also on metforin and progesterone supps. for the first time too.
Did you ever start the Clomid? I am in the same situation and don't know if I should take it or not..
I ovulated on my own and even got pregnant on my own once after a year of trying but it ended in a m/c. When I wanted more blood tests for my naturopath my doctor was against it and sent me to a gyn who said I could keep trying or take clomid. I asked for the clomid. I figured, what the heck, I'll give it a try. I had no faith that it'd work the first month. Infact I was positive the 2nd month would be my month. We did use preseed too and were trying to spice up our sex life so tried some different bd friendly positions. Anyway, I was surprised to find out that I was pregnant. So, I'd say, give it a try.
