One supplement I haven't been able to find in the correct dose is L-Carnitine though - and that's supposed to be one of the most important ones for morphology.
Marilyn Shannon's book, fertility cycles and nutriton mentions Vitamin C for agglutation. The study (27 men) she mentions says that 20 of the men were given vitamin c supplements (1000mg/day) along with calcium magnesium and magnese. And at the end of two months the partners of all 20 men were pregnant. None of the other seven were. It doesn't seem like a big study, but it gives hope, and vitamin c is pretty easy to come by.

Re: Motility Success!!

Thanks a million Melissa, I actually ordered the book off Amazon and we're working on it right now! What you ladies are talking about sounds like a godsend...however, I don't know which book you're referring to. I'm in Australia and the only book I can find with that title is by an Australian herbalist called Jason Jackson (I think!) and the page numbers don't correlate (i.e. on pages 133-134 of that book there are descriptions of foods to eat for zinc and magnesium deficiency). So, I hope this isn't asking too much, but could one of you post the actual list of supplements and exact amounts? That would really help. I posted a while back on this board re: DH's low motility result and we are trying to do everything in our power to improve it.

That's great news about your DH's improved #'s!!

I have the Making Babies book here, and it sounds like the list you're referring to is on p. 133-134 -- the Preconception Multivitamin For Men and the Other Fertility Supplements for Men list?

My DH also has a varicocele and very low motility, and he's currently on Fertility Blend for Men and chinese herbs per the acupuncturist. The acupuncturist says Acai Berry supplements is good for my DH's condition, so I'm having him take that too.

Is your DH taking everything listed on these lists, including the Royal Jelly, etc?

May I also ask what other things your DH has done over the past few months, i.e., lifestyle changes, diet changes, etc.?

Thanks for sharing, and I'm very happy for you!

Motility Success!!

I wanted to share this with all of you struggling with your DH's low motility. Three months ago, my DH's semen analysis showed low everything...count, motility etc. His motility was 14%.

I started doing some reading and put him on an intense supplement regimen...There is a book called "Making Babies" that has a great chapter on supplements. I basically took the list that they give you for male fertility supplements at the end of the chapter and went to Whole Foods with it and got my DH the exact amounts of everything recommended (I did not "overdose" him--I was careful just to get the mg recommended). Then each week I counted them all out in those little pill containers so he could easily take them twice a day (it was a lot--probably 12-14 pills a day, including a multi vitamin.)

His last test showed that his motility is now 50%, which is above the normal cut off! We still have low count due to a varicocele, so no great news yet, but I thought for those of you dealing with just motility issues, this might be helpful to you. I can't think of anything else that might have changed other than the vitamins, so I'm feeling confident that's what did it.

I have also heard that the various Fertility Blends can be helpful, but have also heard that the mg amounts in them are sometimes too low to do much good. That's why I wanted to go with the individual supplements.

Hope this helps someone!
