I liked her, even though she referred to me as "of advanced age" when we begun our discussion on becoming pregnant at my age of 37 (now 38). However, I had to leave her. (long story)

I now have a new obgyn and he came very, very highly recommended. So far, I like him and he seems to be a very good doctor. And he says he does not consider me to be "of advanced age". How nice. But seriously though, I am 38 years old....and my clock is ticking....loudly!

This past January, my husband and I were able to shoosh the ticking for a while. We had become pregnant and needless to say were rediculously excited! It was child number 1 for the two of us. Sadly, during our 8 week ultrasound, we discovered there was no heartbeat and the baby was measuring abnormally small. We had miscarried and were heartbroken. They quickly scheduled me for a D and C.

It has now been about a month since my surgery and I think I am doing okay. Spotting has begun, so I'm thinking my first cycle is about to come to fruition. I've been charting my temps and they have been abnormally low for me. They never went up so I'm assuming I never ovulated this cycle. But I really don't know. I just hope that soon, hubby and I can give this baby thing another try. I'm kinda running short on time here! (Even though everybody and their brother tells me I'm not. C'mon, I'm pushing 40 here!)

Mentally and emotionally, this has been tough. My cousin has an adorable newborn, my sister found out she was pregnant shortly after me, my coworkers' wife is pregnant and we both conceived about the same time (she also works in the same building as me so I get to see her baby bump on occassion), another coworker of mine just told me she is pregnant and is about as far along as my sister.....the babies are everywhere! And it is tough. I still cry on occassion. My doctor called just last week to tell me my baby had an extra chromosome #16. That is the reason for the miscarriage. Then he asked if I wanted to know the sex of the baby. It was a girl. Heartbreak.

Husband and I are leaving this weekend for a vacation/first anniversary getaway in the Smoky Mountains. We've rented a little cabin in the mountains. I really need the getaway. Hoping for some healing time.
