My month in infertility

(I'm really just writing this because I find it amusing, but I feel the need to preface it by saying that I know it's only HALF as much as many of you are going through with your cycles!  Here's hoping it's a lucky month for all of us! Baby Dust)

CD1: Call nurse's line to report start of cycle

CD3: Baseline u/s and CD3 blood work. Begin 100mg Clomid.  (Take half-day, write sub plans)

CD3-7:  Clomid 100mg nightly

CD9:  Stop Metformin.  Take two Zithromax pills at dinner.

CD10:  Begin CBEFM testing.  Take two Zithromax pills with breakfast.  Take two ibuprofen an hour before HSG.  Teaching visit with nurse @ 2:30.  HSG @ 3:00.   (Take half-day, write sub plans)

CD11-14:  Continue CBEFM testing with FMU.  Additional RE-requested OPK testing with SMU.

CD12:  Go get bloodwork to test liver and kidney function.  Restart metformin when results are back.

CD13:  Go BACK to get bloodwork because RE's office forgot to call order into the lab.  Restart metformin when results are back.

CD14:  Follicle check at CD14 u/s. (Beg someone to cover class for an hour, write sub plans)  Fret about HCG trigger shot for three hours while fighting sleep after the last day of school before Christmas break.  Finally take it at 11:30 p.m.  Success after three tries!

CD16:  DH to RE's office to provide "sample" at 8:00.  (Provide "encouragement" at 7:00 a.m. at home Cool)  Me to RE's office at 9:30 for IUI (FSP)!  Finally!

CD18- ?:   Progesterone suppositories twice daily.

CD23:  Start testing out my trigger on IC's.

CD25: Follow-up appointment with RE to discuss results of all my diagnostic testing.

CD30:  Take HPT and pray that all of this results in a Christmas-miracle second line and a healthy baby in nine months.

CD1 - 30:  Try to maintain a healthy relationship with my DH, prepare for Christmas, get to gym, not gain (more) holiday weight, and keep 31 second-graders occupied all while attempting to stick to the protocol listed above!

Number of visits to doctors/labs:  7

Number of injections/blood draws: 4

Number of people all up in my 'lady parts': 5

Dollars spent:  Somewhere around $3000

When I actually get pregnant from all this?:  Priceless

Do people REALLY just BD and get babies from it?

I love your list and I am asking myself that question daily re bd'ing and babies...

All the very best to you! I hope the IUI went smoothly today.

Blessings.

Hi Lauren!  Hope the IUI went well today!  What were DH's numbers?

Hi Red!  The IUI went GREAT!  I was just signing on to write about it actually!  The nurse said, "We've got 48 million sperm to work with today, and we only require 5.  So basically your husband is very studly."  LOL.  I was a tiny bit nervous because DH has a cold right now and I wasn't sure how things would go.  She did not know the motility, but I know it's not AS important with IUI as it is with BD since the sperm are deposited right into my fallopian tube (I did FSP not IUI).

Basically everything today was optimal.  I have a nice lining and one perfect follicle, the count was way above what they require, and the procedure itself was a piece of cake.  The only thing working against us now is simple biology - we didn't technically have any IF issues to deal with today!  So now the looooooong two-week wait.  I'm praying to be a success story like you!

Is your next u/s tomorrow??
