10 reasons I can't handle the new site...

1.  Because I'm a bitter, infertile chick who now has to see other people's recent posts whenever I click on "forums."  This means that I'm stuck seeing subject lines complaining about being pregnant, surprised about being pregnant, questions about being pregnant, etc.  If I wanted to see those subjects I'd go look at them in pregnancy support or announcements.  With this lovely new format, I don't have a choice.  And on my most bitter days, I want to tear my hair out when I'm greeted by a subject line saying something like "SICK of being pregnant!" Angry

2.  Because I can't tell who wrote a post until I click on it.  When I DO go to pregnancy announcements, I can no longer just scan the page and see who got their BFPs.  I have to click on each individual post.  This goes for all of the forums - I used to read certain posts just because I "know" the person writing them.  So much for that.

3.  Because when you click on "who's online" it tells everyone where you have been, and I don't think it's anyone's business which thread I've been reading.

4.  Because I miss being able to see ALL the forums on one page without having to click on "more."

5.  Because the new format is SO much harder to read and determine who is commenting.

6.  Because signatures are limited and most people haven't replaced theirs, and that's how we all learned about each other's histories before we answered a post.

7.  Because our charts don't show up as avatars next to our names anymore.

8.  Because even when I click on someone's chart in their signature, it doesn't open up in a new window.

9.  Because writing personals in message boards is impossible now since we can't look back at the post while replying.

10.  Because I'm starting to equate the loss of these forums to the loss of my pregnancy two months ago, and that's just wrong.

laurenAZ, for sure #1... I hate that too.  #8 is because the person who put their chart in their siggie did not put it in to open in a new window..... but your right, it's super annoying.

I just wanted to send some hugs and agree with you on points #1 and #2 especially. I'm sorry to hear about #10.. it is wrong for sure. :(

Yeah #1 is the worst.  I just think the old site was so much more... comfortable.  I felt SAFE there that I could shield myself from certain things on sensitive days.  I know that sounds weird.  But I don't feel safe or comfortable here anymore.  It really does feel like a loss.  Sad

All this and more.  HUGS.

Doesn't sound weird at all... Hope they fix this issue soon...

Every time I click and see all the top posts right there on the front page, I cringe. I am so sorry. I hope they fix it.

Also I am so very sorry for your loss. You do not sound weird at all! I have felt that need to shield myself from sensitive subjects too. If that ability were taken away from me, it would be very traumatizing.

I totally agree with you about #1. I thought it was just me that thought that. It makes me feel worse (and then bad for feeling bad, if you see what I mean)

Re #3, I had no idea about that. Don't like that idea at all.

Re #10, I'm sorry about your loss. It makes everything so much harder.

Number 1, 4, 5 - Totally agree.

It was so easy and user-friendly on the old site in terms of navigating to where you wanted to go. It's so non-intuitive and such a hassle to get to where you want to go on here how that I usually can't be bothered. Only logged in this evening to see if others were havig the same problems.

There is no way I would have been able to handle seeing many of the new posts when we were going through our infertility journey.  I agree with many of your top 10.  I hope they change it -- it is very insensitive.

Lots of hugs for you!

I'm glad it's not just me who has issues with #1!  I do hope that some of these issues are fixed - I'm sort of hoping my list winds up on the screen of someone who can make these changes!  Thanks for all of your kind words and commiserating. : )

THANK YOU for summarizing all of these issues!  I also hope your list will be seen by those who can change things, since I think SOOO many of us feel the same way!

Hey ladies.  I've tried finding an answer to this but there's really no tech support so I thought I'd try throwing this out there since this is a blog about the new site and maybe there's an obvious explanation to this.  I can see all the forum titles, but when I click on them I can't actually see any of the comments.  The blogs are all I seem to be able to see or type in.  I never had this problem with the old site.  Can anybody think what the problem might be?  Sharing your frustration with the new site...

#11.  All of the old FAQs and threads no longer have siggy's attached to the old embers who had posted.  It was always encouraging to see someone who wasn't PG post in a TTC thread asking a question and then reading their siggy and noticing that they had actually gotten pregnant somewhere down the road.  This was especially nice when the person had been struggling with some of my same issues and then got PG and had a healthy baby.  Sigh.

Thank you for posting this. I couldn't agree more. The recent addition of the TCOYF baby photos to the main page completely threw me over the top. I hope they hear our feedback soon and do something about it. It would be such a shame to lose the support of other women experiencing IF, because they get turned off of this site.

Things are looking up it seems.  Numbers 1-4 have all been changed!  Hopeful they'll keep ironing out more of these wrinkles...
